WHAT TO DO IN MELBOURNE

This post is way outdated as I was pretty preoccupied with work and life.
And with some extra free time on hand with the Movement Control Order here, here it goes!
I'll be separating these trip into two post. One all the food and one for all the places to go.

It was a chilly October morning when I landed in Melbourne. I was definitely not prepared for the weather because all the jackets I have are not thick enough. So I had to borrow it from my sis throughout the trip. The first few days it was 9 to 15 degree Celsius. And guess what we have for lunch

.
Chicken Rice!

So among the places I would recommend going to are as below :

1. Flinders Street Station

Fun Fact : Flinders Street Station, is the first railway station built in any Australian city.

2. Hosier Lane

This is where all the coffee, food and graffiti litted walls. A tip from our walking tour guide, walk into any random street and you can find wonders!

3. Art Museums / Markets

4. State Library Victoria

This library was established in 1854 as Melbourne Public Library. This makes it Australia's oldest public library and one of the first few libraries in the world. .

5. Block Arcade in CBD

For more shopping and food

6. Join the Free Walking Tour

It is absolutely free but you can tip the guide for their hard work! The guides are volunteers and are mostly students. Our guide was really helpful and knowledgeable so if you see him, please do join!

7. The Great Ocean Road (Twelve Apostles + Loch Ard Gorge)

It was a 4 hours to, and another 3 hours back. We departed early in the morning and reached back late at night. It was tiring but the scenic views were worthed it. It was a cold day and I remember sitting outside a park having my avocado sandwich with a cup of hot coffee. That was good.

This Vietnamese couple who migrated to Sydney many years back were super sweet! They helped me to take picture while I helped them :P

8. Just exploring the CBD

9. Millionaire's Walk

If you have time, you can consider driving to Mornington for the Millionaire's walk to get the insight into how the elite's spend time at their summer mansions.  This is actually aprivate residences line the pathway of this cliffside walk with sweeping ocean views & art displays.

10. Visit a Wildlife Park

The Koalas and Kangaroos are just too adorable to miss.

11. Phillip Island

How could I not look at some penguins! They are one of my favourites <3
No pictures of penguins as they are really camera shy. The camera flash would scare them off and they would not be able to return to shore with foods for their babies.

12. Churchill Island

This island is situated just off the coast of Phillip Island which holds an important place in the history of European settlement in Victoria. We didn't spend much time here as it was rainy and we had something else on our schedule. But you would be able to see some sheeps here as well.

13. Yarra Valley

Yarra Valley is the region surrounding Yarra River and here, you can find wineries! Drinking wine and feeling fine. We had our lunch here at OakRidge. During our 3 hours luncheon, you can see the weather change from sunny to cloudy to sunny again.

14. South Melbourne Market

Here, I found the best croissant i ever had, and my love for oysters as they were so fresh!
Not forgetting the beautiful flowers.

----

After a good 10 days, I was scheduled to go home because work calls!
I remember watching this sunset while listening to Dance Monkey. The mood was just right.
Such bittersweet feeling because I miss my Malaysian food but I'll definitely miss the cold breeze in Melbourne, with my hands tuck inside my pockets.

Till next time.

All photos were taken using P30 on automode.
